Agoric Joins ECMAScript Committee (TC39) and ECMA International

We’re excited to announce that Agoric has been unanimously approved as a member of ECMA International and TC39. ECMA International is the organization responsible for publishing ECMAScript (JavaScript) standards, and TC39 is the working group in which decisions about the future of JavaScript are made.

Over the years, we’ve participated in major improvements to the JavaScript language, primarily focused on improving security and enabling JavaScript to support the object capability (ocap) programming model. The founding team of Agoric has been directly involved in the development of the JavaScript standards through TC39 for the past 10 years, when Mark S. Miller (then at Google) was invited to TC39 at the request of Douglas Crockford. As part of TC39, we will continue to advocate for increasing the usability and security of JavaScript through proposals such as Realms and Frozen Realms.
